Gol darn Woody, it surely is good to see your handle on the message board again. I often think of the good rides and conversations we shared back in '97/98. I'll never forget the "help" Preston and all his wranglers gave his next door neighbor (who later turned out to be his good friends, Don and Jeanie) move their herd of "springing heifers" (who had never seen a person or a horse before). I didn't ride that day, but hiked up to the top of Feathery to watch you all bring the herd across the range. What a picture that was! But as luck would have it the weather turned ugly, lightening broke and the herd scattered every which way! Everyone one made it back to headquarters in record time, except for you. Dark came and still no Woody. We were very worried and getting ready to send out a search party but just at that moment you showed up AFTER HAVING YOUR BELL RUNG BY LIGHTENING! You were navigating, but your body was obviously suffering the effects of an indirect hit. You surely were very lucky that day! Where are you now? Still in AZ? I'm still in NJ and have two horses now - a 13 year old appaloosa gelding and a three year old gruella filly. I still go to the ranch and am saddened by all of Preston's problems. I'm hoping to get back there next year. It's hard to believe that you on the other side of the big 50! I'm now 65 and still kicking up a storm. Take care; maybe our paths will cross again some day. I'd like that a lot.
