However I think I was looking at it a bit differently in the fact that what happens when the wolves start intruding on us? I work for a farmer (in addition to my regular job) and in the past few years he's lost several calves to wolves, probably not as many as you, but when the authorities get involved he's given the same stupid responses that you're getting ie. move them etc. He has a dairy farm with limited acreage and doesn't have that option. Last year pups were born near a stack of round bales. When we would get them for feeding, a whole rukus would follow. We were asked by the Ministry of Natural Resources to perhaps leave the bales in place and buy more!! At $25 per bale with about 100 - 120 bales there ... I don't think so! Defending your livelihood means nothing to the people that make these decisions and the people that support these projects can't seem to grasp that. It's always your fault and you caused the problem. Here's a man that I see working very hard and at times barely getting by, now his next generation of producers are gone. Like you said before ... they don't see the dollars that go with the calves. Up here we don't have near as many restrictions about wolves that you face but we still have a problem with the groups that support them as well as no methodology to support the losses to farmers. I have the utmost respect for you and what you've gone through in the last year. I hope that next year I'll be reading about your good fortunes. I still won't be able to get out there since we have a new baby on the way. All the best for the holidays. Trevor
