I have scruples too, and for the same basic reasons. I'll worry that, when I go to confession, I haven't confessed a sin completely enough (i.e., I worry that if the priest doesn't completely understand what the sin was). And I'll worry that, IF I haven't confessed the sin properly, it's a mortal sin because of lied. But lying consists of fully knowing you're telling something that isn't true, or is misleading, or is a half-truth.
I'd really like you to e-mail me and discuss this some more, because I'm relating to a lot of what you're saying, and I think I can help some. My primary advice, though, is to 1st realize that God has given you this cross for a reason (namely, you getting to Heaven), and that it is by trusting Him that you're going to be okay. Secondly, don't go investigating your doubts (e.g., if you have a question about whether or not something is a serious sin, don't go looking in books or online for the answer; you know that only makes things worse). VERY importantly, GET A GOOD SPIRITUAL DIRECTOR and follow his advice with strict obedience; pray for one, and God will send you what you need.
Finally, always be at peace. Our Lord is Peace Itself. Anything that brings anxiety cannot be from Him. If you relax and realize that you can't get the problem solved right away, you won't be so anxious. You're going to be fine! Just be patient.
Please e-mail me. I have more to say that might help you. davidwins0@hotmail.com
