As for worshipping the way Jesus did, the Bible clearly tells us that Jesus *repeated* His prayer in Gethsemane: "He went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words" (Mt 26:44; also Mark 14:39). If Jesus can repeat His prayers, why can't we?
Jesus also used the term "father" to refer to mere human beings, such as Abraham (Luke 16:24); Jacob (John 4:12); and David (Mark 11:10). He also called male parents in general "fathers" (Matthew 19:29; Lk 11:11). So this Catholic practice is quite in line with the true meaning of Jesus' teachings.
We follow Jesus by belonging to the Church He founded - the Catholic Church - rather than following our own personal opinions of what He taught. The Church speaks with Jesus' own authority: "He who hears you hears Me, and he who rejects you rejects Me, and he who rejects
Me rejects Him who sent Me." (Luke 10:16).
