That's a clever idea! I'm surprised no stores have considered doing this, that were forced to close when the RYO machine ban took effect a month ago. I bet some entrepreneurs will eventually read the provision behind that rule inserted into the recent transportation bill, and figure out if such a business could get around this new law via doing this.

: I dont know how the new law is written. I
: wonder if it would be possible to open a
: store which sells no tobacco or cigarette
: papers filters etc and only rents time on
: the large cigarette loading machine.
: Customers would buy their tobacco papers
: filters etc elsewhere and bring them in only
: to load them.

: We had stores like that pop up locally, but
: Cook County(which includes Chicago) ended
: the RYO loophole as of March of this year.
: Illinois is ending it with the cig tax
: increase taking effect later this month, but
: I know a lot of such stores did pop up
: throughout Illinois, when the RYO loophole
: did exist. (and still do outside of Cook
: County, which'll all obviously stop having
: RYO machines after June 24th)
:
: I remember reading Wisconsin ended the RYO
: loophole, in late 2011. So enjoy those
: stores, while they last....

: I don't know if smoking is making sort of a
: comeback here in our area, but I have now
: seen a few of these places pop up recently.
:
: Tobacco Road is basically a roll your own
: store where you buy the additive free
: tobacco, rolling papers and filters in the
: style that is closest to your favorite brand
: and then you go to a rolling machine and
: feed the stuff into the machine. I am not
: exactly sure how it works, but apparently in
: 8 minutes you can make 200 cigarettes and it
: only costs $26.80 for everything.
:
: I only am smoking a pack or 2 a week and I
: am not sure that I am ready to try this yet
: myself. In addition to that, I usually like
: 100s or even 120s and they only come in the
: kings size. They do offer a money back
: guarantee that if you smoke the 1st few and
: don't like it they will buy the carton back.
:
: They wanted to give out free samples, but
: they were told that this was not allowed.
