We had stores like that pop up locally, but Cook County(which includes Chicago) ended the RYO loophole as of March of this year. Illinois is ending it with the cig tax increase taking effect later this month, but I know a lot of such stores did pop up throughout Illinois, when the RYO loophole did exist. (and still do outside of Cook County, which'll all obviously stop having RYO machines after June 24th) |
I remember reading Wisconsin ended the RYO loophole, in late 2011. So enjoy those stores, while they last....
: I don't know if smoking is making sort of a
: comeback here in our area, but I have now
: seen a few of these places pop up recently.
: Tobacco Road is basically a roll your own
: store where you buy the additive free
: tobacco, rolling papers and filters in the
: style that is closest to your favorite brand
: and then you go to a rolling machine and
: feed the stuff into the machine. I am not
: exactly sure how it works, but apparently in
: 8 minutes you can make 200 cigarettes and it
: only costs $26.80 for everything.
: I only am smoking a pack or 2 a week and I
: am not sure that I am ready to try this yet
: myself. In addition to that, I usually like
: 100s or even 120s and they only come in the
: kings size. They do offer a money back
: guarantee that if you smoke the 1st few and
: don't like it they will buy the carton back.
: They wanted to give out free samples, but
: they were told that this was not allowed.
