Well, I guess maybe smoking is not just alive and well during race time and at festivals, but also pretty popular amoung the evening crown in downtown.
My wife and I went out for dinner on Saturday night and sat at one of our favorite outdoor cafe's. I noticed that as we sat there and watched the people walking down the sidewalks and sitting outside of the other restaurants and bars there seemed to be almost as many people smoking as there were who were not smoking. It seemed that everywhere I looked it was not hard to find at least one smoker in close proximity.
It also seems that there are more bars in our area that have either shifted or opened and are allowing smoking inside now. On the main block of Central Avenue, almost every restaurant or bar has patio tables on the sidewalk and allows smoking outside and I noticed 3 locations on that one block that allowed smoking inside. There are also 2 bars that prohibit smoking at all for those who don't wish to be imposed on by the smokers and so everyone has a choice. It was really nice to see so many people smoking out in public like that even if my wife and I were mainly vaping (I had one cigarette at a local jazz club but vaped the rest of the night with my lovely wife).
