Oh, don't get me wrong LTS, I've gotten used to them(not that it's my preference, of course). And I do agree with you about the fact that the 'smirting' trend does make it easier to talk to fellow smokers, when you go to a bar or other place with such a patio. And yes, I do agree with you that smokers do try to make the best of a bad situation, with all these over the top laws. It's just to me that smoking bans probably wouldn't be so hard on me, if say we had Florida-like weather in an area where bans were passed. And Illinois(where I live) especially doesn't have that advantage! I wouldn't mind moving somewhere warmer, since I've never been much of a fan of colder weather, and since for now, there still are some areas left without total bans. Though with the unbelievable way smoking bans are expanding, I sometimes wonder if any places will still be free in the U.S.(and without total restrictions), within 5-10 years.
More I think about it, the more you're probably right that most smokers dislike smoking bans. But of course, it's too easy to think the opposite, because of the way the media(since it's always been very anti-smoking biased, in favor of those who push such bans) pathetically reports about smoking issues.

: Allan, I don't think it's so much that smokers
: like the bans (most, anyway) but that they
: try to make the best of a bad situation.
:
: Every cloud has a silver lining and one
: upside of the bans is that it congregates
: smokers in one area where, if you want to
: watch them smoking, it's easier to do so
: and, if you want to chat some of them up,
: you know where to find them (and if you find
: them there, they're probably smokers [and
: probably smoking]). Those two advantages
: ain't half bad!
:
: Smokin' and postin' and tryin' to make the
: best of things in a rapidly changin' world!
