Posted by StefanN Online banking is completely useless whet it gets to international transfers. If you try to transfer money abroad it always offers you a form asking for sort code and account number. There is no way to state an IBAN/BIC which is the standard in europe now. If I try to transfer money from the UK to europe I can only dust off my good old cheque book and send a cheque to the receiving bank. |
Posted by Fred It took me 3 visits to 2 bank branches, as well as another phone call, to get someone at my bank to agree to take the considerable leap of faith required to do something as outlandish as sending some money abroad. And even then they didn't know what that IBA-whatsit-thingy was; only my assurance that the relaying bank that would eventually send the money across the channel would know what to do with it persuaded them; and the agreement that I would bear any charges if it went wrong. |

Posted by Mike It might avoid the cost of some unwarranted solicitors’ charges for late payers who are unaware that they are late payers.
