Race director Don Morrison of Mid-Atlantic Events is thrilled to be hosting the 2009 XTERRA Philly Trail Run Series. “We had a very competitive series last year in all age groups and even had two people from our series crowned XTERRA National Champions at the finale in Bend, Oregon. We are expecting another great season this year.”
Five races make the line-up for the 2009 schedule. The first four mimic last year alternating between Warwick Park and Hibernia Park and will feature shorter distances of 5km and 8km trail runs. The final race of the season, the half-marathon distance Xduro, will be moving to Bear Creek Mountain Resort in scenic Berks County which offers a variety of activities for the entire family along with miles of trails perfect for running.
After competing in all five races of 2008, regional champion Jerilyn Kucharski gave us her thoughts about the series. “I thoroughly enjoyed the rocky, rolling, muddy and sometimes soaking wet terrain of the Wednesday evening series, and the 21km race was also a pleasure. I am already looking forward to next summer and more XTERRA trail races.”
The series has also been called a “true XTERRA adventure” and “Great fun!”
