all my life, since very young, my father has tried to persuade me to train in any martial arts. he used to surprise me and say lets go for a ride, and take me to a different karate or tae kwon do or other dojo to sign up. i never joined, yet watched many classes and went/participated in many seminars. At age 15 i had a school buddy mess around with me one time and i got angry. as i started to get into not playin around anymore mode he laughed and really laid into me. no matter what i did he coountered and hit me. he was 2nd degree black belt in tae kwon do. he said , you wanna come train with me. he was under instruction of a new group in area which was the instructor 4th degree blk, his son 2nd degree blk, and my friend and one other brown belt. they had no students and since was just them, a high level training atmosphere. they quickly tried to bring me to speed. i gave up fast. the style was boring, drills time consuming and unproductive, and felt i was actually being trained to get ass beat. couple years later 2 buddies, hardcore military nut muscle head types joined a new wing chun school near me. they had a crazy viscious approach. their instructor was teaching them a very hard and violent way of wing chun. as they continually taught me what they learned it seemed nasty. the more they taught me , i realized this was the system my father knew and tried teaching me from an early age. my dad learned while working over seas for 25 yrs from various people in several different countries. I AM FINALLY READY TO LEARN RIGHT. the correct soft way with emphasis on posture posture posture. i am in nj, anybdu know a good instructor. one whop has great skills AND MINDSET to teach correctly. not abusively.
