Hi, I've 16 and I've been practising Kenpo and a few other styles for just over a year now and I have been in a few fights since I started. When I first started I had a very similar phobia. I became almost paralysed with fear at the thaught of practising my skills upon some unfortunate chump who was unlucky enough to pick a fight with me. My instuctor always told me "If your attacker is not going to show you any compasion then why should you show them compassion?" I believe that you should only ever use what you feel is necessary to win the fight.
I hope I've been of some help. Thanks for reading
: I have been in a few fights in my life, saying
: that im only 20 so i'd say i maybe in a
: few more before my times up. Anyway its
: just that in all my fights i have yet to
: hit anyone in the face. I dont know why
: but i have never been able to get over
: that fear. I have be clobbered in the face
: before. I also try so hard to talk my way
: out of a fight even when the fight has
: begun. I have started Wing Chun, i have
: only been for a week now. From what i have
: been told, if you believe a fight is going
: to take place, you should hit first. This
: is a problem for me as i can never hit
: someone first, let alone hit them in the
: face. In all my fights i hit the guys
: stomach this was stupid i know, but i
: really didnt know what to do. Can anyone
: give me advice to get over the fear of
: hitting someone hard on the face, and
: "starting" and hopefully ending
: the fight.
