Posted by Ann Marie H. I also heard that every major scale has an Augmented 4th and a diminished 5th. The upper note of the A4 is the leading tone of a major key. The lower note of d5 is the leading tone of a major key. So, in C Major, F to B is an A4, with B being the leading tone of C. And, B to F is a d5, with B being the leading tone of C. (FYI, every minor scale has an A2 and a d7.)

I don't know if I understand your question, but one thing I learned recently about the tritone (Augmented fourth, or diminished fifth) is that it wants to resolve in two directions. The raised fourth wants to resolve upward one-half step, and the bottom note wants to resolve downward one-half step. So, if you play C and F#, you resolve it to B and G.
