How about the fact that the tritone interval has more than one resolution? For example, the augmented 4th interval of C to F# resolves outwardly to the minor 6th interval of B to G, implying a resolution to the key of G Major. If the original augmented 4th interval of C to F# is enharmonically respelled as a diminished 5th (C to Gb), it resolves inwardly to the major 3rd interval of Db to F, implying a resolution to the key of Db Major. Same tritone pitches, two spellings, two different resolutions. So the spelling of the tritone interval points to the implied key to which it naturally resolves. In this sense, the tritone itself appears to be pivotal in terms of tonality.
