Posted by 02 If you're approaching the phrase as a player and there are no articulation markings, you'll have to use your imagination and creativity. Tough to comment with so little detail.

If you're analyzing a piece of music, you can look for clues in the context, like other appearances of the phrase or theme. You have to let the music tell you what's happening.
