When you have a progression of V IV6 V65 I, my book says that in minor, to avoid the augmented 2nd in the bass (5 6 7 1), you need to raise scale degree 6 to form a melodic ascending scale with 6 and 7 raised. What I don't understand is that in IV6, there is another scale degree 6 (because the 3rd is doubled). But what do I do with it? Is it raised also? I haven't found any example in minor keys to verify. Please help|
