The three dimensions I refered to, are spatial and cartesian. Geometric X,Y&Z.
By placing the twelve notes of the chromatic scale into a three dimensional spatial matrix you can find patterns that can be translated back into musical theory.
e.g. It can show why there is only one circle of perfect 5ths or why there are four circles of minor 3rds.
The matrix is also useful for composition, as any single step journey through the matrix entails harmonic sonance. The diminished 7th chord even appears as a straight line in the horizontal plane
