Spatial representation of the chromatic scale

I have worked out how to represent the chromatic scale in a 2 dimensional hexagonal array with 3 vectors of minor 3rds, major 3rds and 5ths. It's possible to go to 3 dimensions with a vector of augmented 4ths.

Has anyone any knowledge of this idea being used before?
