I am composing a piano solo, which I am writing to blank sheet music, and I am confused at one thing. If I have an A note below Middle C to be played with the right hand, must I put the note in the top line of the bass staff, or can I add ghost lines below Middle C (as Middle C itself has a ghost line)to place the A note on? I know that ghost lines can be added above the Treble staff, and below the Bass staff, and I have seen ghost lines above the Bass staff when used for the left hand, but I don't know if the same applies to below the Treble staff if using the right hand.
Also, if I must put the A note (in this situation) on the top line of the Bass staff, and I have a half note (in this case) followed by a rest for the remainder of the messure (the piece is in 4/4 time), do I just put a half rest following the half note (as is usually the case), or does another rule apply.
Any help would be appreciated.
Sincerely,
Charles Kemp
