Posted by cal "mpd" Morgan Ah, the good old days, when the Brahms crowd despised the Wagner crowd. When von Bulow and Wagner thought Nietzsche was a complete idiot for trying to write music. Here's what Rose` of the Rose` quartet had to say to Hugo Wolf: "We have attentively gone through your D minor String Quartet and unanimously resolved to leave the work for you with the doorman of the Opera House. Will you have the kindness to send for it as soon as possible? He may easily mislay it. With kindest greetings." Point taken about civility. However, people used to care enough about music theory to get mad about it. Things seem a little sleepy around here, so I was trying to stir it up a little. Rest assured that I would never insult anyone else in the same manner that I've insulted myself here. -CM

Yeah, I'm all for civility, but since I (obviously) wrote both posts (for and against) myself, I thought I would be granted poetic licence.
