A reminder that there are numerous pockets of "blue" in Georgia, and Athens is one of 'em.
The films in the "Southern Noir" series don't go quite as deep into the swamp as one might expect--there are more Florida and Louisiana titles that could have added some spice to the lineup--but getting classic-era films like KEY LARGO and CAPE FEAR, and neos like BODY HEAT and the DeNiro remake of CAPE FEAR isn't too bad of a start. Perhaps if the crowds show up, the curators at Ciné will go further...
...and perhaps Eddie will wind up down there to show DEAD RECKONING and dole out those Ramos Gin Fizzes!
