So a few days ago, I imported all the Tumblr content to a new Wordpress.com blog, also titled A Reading Retirement:

I decided to make this pure anti-social media, so there is no liking or commenting or re-blogging. I just put the material out there. I have never been comfortable with the way that platforms like Twitter stoke our need for validation. I don’t want to write for that. I just find it irresistible to put a few sentences down, is all. I seem to lack the self-promotional gene.
I like the way the new blog looks; I stumbled on a template that serves my content nicely.
I think that my years on Twitter did reinforce my tendency to write shorter, and besides, I simply don’t have the stamina I used to, and even THAT wasn’t much. At 65, I’m more interested in taking naps than writing longer articles or essays. My admiration for anyone who can complete writing an entire book is boundless.
My subject matter continues to wander all over the place, as Don has also noted. Probably this is a big reason why I have never had many readers or followers; I’m not specialized enough. But that’s the way I am, and I wouldn’t change it.
