I concentrated on those two series because they were the two I had seen the most of, and they lent themselves well to a point-by-point comparison.
One syndicated series that I would love to dig into is The Brothers Brannagan (1960-61), which ties into two issues I raise in the essay: location shooting (it was a low-budget local production made in Phoenix), and the idea of private detectives working in tandem.
An episode of another rare 60-61 series, The Case of the Dangerous Robin, recently appeared briefly on YouTube and just as swiftly disappeared.
I have not yet seen Allen Glover’s 2019 book on TV noir, but I am sure that there is much more to be said on this subject.
