She was almost as well-known for her humanitarian activism, which back in the late 1940s ran afoul of those who were on the hunt for purported Communist sympathizers. Marsha was at least partially blacklisted during the 1950s due to her mistakenly being mentioned in RED CHANNELS.
We were honored to show the documentary made about her life along with a notable film she made during WWII, NONE SHALL ESCAPE, directed by Andre de Toth, as part of MCP's Marvin Paige Legacy Project series in 2016. That evening was reprised by the FNF a couple of years later as a tribute to her on her 101st birthday.
Marsha also wrote a wonderful book about "old style" Hollywood fashion entitled THE WAY WE WORE, which is well worth seeking out.
RIP to a truly exceptional human being.
