They're not on the list because I eliminated the ones we already had. Wolf's 8.2 on over 1 million votes.
it is my intent to make some low-cost comments on the A-M list. Also on the top 25 contenders list when I can. My sources are going to be 1. my reviews, or 2. rewatch, or 3. memory + IMDb comments, or 4. IMDb ratings. On IMDb comments, I like to sort by LOW score comments, which is very easy to do, to get to what people who rate the movie 3 or 4 say.
I'll start with "The Departed" which I endured last night. (1) Too long for what it accomplishes. (2) Scorsese seemed off his game. (3) Music didn't help it. (4) Very plot-driven, but juggling the balls sacrificed suspense. (5) Needed an intermission, otherwise restlessness comes in. (5) Neo-noir character not foremost. (6) Characters not real developed or gaining our emotional involvement. This reduces the neo-noir quotient. (7) I did understand the title by the time the movie ended, since almost everyone was among the departed. (8) I love the feeling of the French Connection gained in so many ways: music, locations, acting, script, characters, suspense, editing. The Departed falls short on this aspect. Heavy New England and Boston accents do not suffice. (8) Movie is "labored".
Not top 25 material.
