I read it all with great interest. I didn't respond because I wanted to see whether others would acknowledge all the work you did. Blackboarders don't respond to lots of entries. Your work is not being singled out. Your going back to the basic definitions is a sound practice. Etymology helps too.
In fact, last night when I watched "Chase a Crooked Shadow", I thought of the woman in distress model. That movie is in that vein strongly throughout.
