[ Post a Response | THE BLACKBOARD ]
Re: Geoffrey O’Brien’s NYRB review of David Bordwell’s REINVENTING HOLLYWOOD
I didn't expect any response from Blackboarders, other than from Don, to my post about the Significance of "The Woman in Distress," and Blackboarders didn't disappoint me. Other film noir historians, not on Blackboard, predictably did respond.
In keeping with ignoring the topic, a la this website, O'Brien's review of "Reinventing Hollywood" fails to mention Bordwell's signal contribution -- albeit using a terrible term -- namely, to discuss 1940s films with a "woman in peril" plot.
