I received a back slap from wild man author James Ellroy for complimenting him on his career as a golf caddy (I was once a caddy too). Supposedly, during lean times Ellroy caddied to provide himself with income to allow him to write his earliest manuscripts.
Some of the best footage in the title sequence of "L.A. Confidential" appeared to be lifted directly from Eagle-Lion's "He Walked By Night" (the police motorcycles exiting from a garage ramp and the state of the art police call center). This stock footage was used repeatedly in other movies.
Is it me or was there never an actual police dragnet in the television series "Dragnet" with Jack Webb?
