Re: NOTW : EDGE OF FURY 1958 Low budget Crazy
An interesting little film to say the least--don't think Elliot has ever found a good enough print of this one to screen in any of his festivals. There's a note on IMDB from co-director Robert Gurney (from twelve years ago, wondering if he is still alive at this point...) dealing with various issues about the film (clarifying the shoot date vs. release date) in which he reveals that he only had a 16mm print of it...since UA put it out, one assumes that there were 35mm prints of this at one time.
Would definitely be a standout in a noir festival entitled SICK, SICK, SICK! Elliot had a number of later versions of these films (THE COUCH, THE HYPNOTIC EYE) in one of his later Roxie configurations, but a whole weekend of this stuff could really cause folks to waste precious water in CA trying to clean themselves up. WITHOUT WARNING, THE SNIPER, THE NIGHT RUNNER, THE SADIST, A CRY IN THE NIGHT...the tag line for this festival could be "What Does This Festival Says About The Folks Who Come To See It??"
