"The Killers" with Ronald Reagan and Lee Marvin was made, as I understand it, originally to be a made a TV movie of the week type presentation, but was released as a theatrical film instead. Something about being caught up in the anti-violence in TV movement of the time.
Don is correct about there being a 20th Century Fox series. It was mid 1950s for a couple of years. Many of the hours were abridgments of 20th properties (Laura, The Oxbow Incident, among others) and some appear to be original stories. Also I believe a few were remakes with different titles. IMDb is not real helpful on this, as many titles lack synopses.
