Don, if the original owner can't be located so that an archive and format update can be facilitated, the time has come. The backpages are precisely what makes this forum a special place, and those posts are being lost everyday. Those posts are a resource that people would use. Mike's lists should be permanent stickys. I can't agree with your reasoning not to migrate over to one of the more modern, and free, services. Every forum dies when it fails to attract new contributors. The visual aesthetics -- black surface, yellow titles that turn red when opened, white font -- are easily duplicated. Put the old address at the top of the new page, and the new address at the top of this page, and everybody will know where to find The Blackboard.
The upgrade could be done right here on boardhost, according to the top page.
