Interesting commentary. Noir is not entirely absent from popular animated works, I think. "Who Framed Roger Rabbit", and perhaps even some parts of Disney's "Pinocchio". In fact, Pinocchio, like many a noir hero, could have avoided his problems if he had just done the right thing. I have not seen the film for many a year, but as I recall has a many expressionistic scenes. Just a thought.
