Update: I made my first-ever noir introduction before a live audience at a local library in San Leandro last week for a screening of "The Lineup." Only about 20 people, but they enjoyed the film and clapped at the end. Not Noir City, but it was fun to turn on an uninitiated audience to SF circa '57 and the twisted performances of Eli Wallach and Robert Keith.
I'm moving up in class tomorrow -- a larger crowd at a larger library and a screening of Double Indemnity.
Later in the month, an interesting all-day bill: Detour, Odd Man Out, The Big Heat, The Long Goodbye. Not introducing that one because I'll be at spring training, but that's a pretty all-encompassing serving of noir. In April, both the 1931 and 1941 versions of the Maltese Falcon will be screened.
I should be doing more film noir writing in the near future.
