There were reports that the prints for DECEPTION and HUMORESQUE--also sourced from WB--were similarly sub-par. Word is that this type of experience with WB prints is by no means limited to just NC. It would seem that caveat emptor needs to be applied when working with them, and that the digital alternative--which was employed to reported good effect earlier in the week for THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY--is more and more the best way to go.
There have also been reports that the Castro sound system is now badly in need of an overhaul. Difficulties in making out dialogue were noted on multiple nights, which does seem to point to the theatre system.
This seems to be more and more of a crapshoot, at least with WB. Hoping that Elliot doesn't have too many of his pre-Code films in the upcoming series coming from them
