Addendum: The music in this movie [Hot Target] is terrible. It's almost as if someone went out of their way to sabotage the movie, but the unfortunate reality is that someone thought the music was adding. Bad music in modern movies is so common that I no longer mention it much. Even groups that are supposed to be making good movie scores, like Tangerine Dream (Thief (1981), Sorcerer (1977), Flashpoint (1984)) provide mostly bad music with only occasional instances of something good within their scores.
The worst musically is what I call the "drone". It's when some instrument or electronic device simply repeats the same note endlessly. This is an extreme example of mismatches between the music and the visual action. Music frequently drowns out human voices.
The audio balance in these movies is pathetic. In Hot Target, when the man and woman are conversing, if his voice is a 10, her's is like a 2. Whispering is common in modern movies. Many actors and actresses simply have no voice.
