Re: Is "Undercurrent" (1946) a noir?
Thanks, Don. I agree that too many reviewers treat the film harshly, some wishing for Joan Fontaine in the part but frankly I like Hepburn's spark. She pulls off scene after scene and plays well against Taylor's bouncing back and forth between confident man-of-the-world with quick repartee and his morose and bitterly resentful side.
I've added some material about these two characters to my post above, and I think the story becomes more noir when we understand these two people better.
