GRATUITOUS NOTE ON PERSONAL FINANCES...I can live on $1,000 USD / month here in Queretaro, which is considered one of Mexico's more expensive cities. That's about what I'm pulling down right now, too, between my freelance writing and my local private English lessons - but if I can expand that figure over time, which should be possible, I'll actually have some disposable income for books, CDs, DVDs, and Blu-rays. At $1,500 / month, I'd be living VERY well, and at $2,000 / month, like a prince. How far would $2,000 / month get me in the U.S. or Canada? - Not very far at all, which is why I'm here in Mexico. There is a reason why so many move abroad to retire, or like me, to live and work and THEN retire. I just got my Residente Permanente card after four years in Mexico, which means that I never have to leave or re-apply.
The weather's pretty nice, too.
