Re: A first cut at a "Noir-Roughie" series...
For what it's worth, the thought crosses my mind that although Edgar G. Ulmer was a professional he generally worked outside the studios and guilds to get his pictures made on shoestrings or smaller budgets. In that sense even DETOUR (1945) can be considered a roughie, it's so primitively made.
Personally I like reckless primitive things.
