Strong Indian product

Two recent Indian movies are notably strong neo-noirs: Haider (2014) and Badlapur (2015). I'm very enthusiastic about these. For awhile in the 80s, Hong Kong ran with the neo-noir ball, then S. Korea in the 90s and 00s, and lately, India is coming on strong. This Indian neo-noir product has gotten very powerful. My impression is that these stories are much deeper with much more character development than either the HK or SK movies in general. The photography is exceptional. The songs fit the stories and add to them too. Haider is based on Hamlet, so it has a big head start; but the direction and production are first rate.
