Also, in the Air Force, traveling between Asia and Italy, I can recall being intrigued by the first and best of the "Mondo" films, "Mondo Cane ( World of Dogs) and Mondo Cane 2 aka Mondo Pazzo (Crazy World) ...they opened the door to a host of what might be called "Roughie" (not sure of its definition here) of a considerably more prurient, art or grind house variety, e.g. Mondo Freudo, Mondo Topless, MalaMondo, Mondo Bizzaro, Mondo Hollywood, Mondo New York and I'm sure there with many others.
These were more sexploitation disguised as exposes of the skin trade, whereas the first of them, Cane, etc were more documentary in nature, covering weird rituals, religious, social, and tribal practices around the world...The "Mondo" titles were just tacked on to take advantage of the success of the earlier films and pretend to add an international flavor to what were essentially cheap imitations. they featured footage from strip clubs etc from "the block" in Baltimore to the 42nd St porno houses and seedy gentle men's clubs around the country which were becoming more daring in their offerings esp in cities like SF, LA, Vancouver and elsewhere.
