Oh well, some people don't like Hamlet, and Ezra Pound thought Shakespeare was overrated altogether. What are you going to do? For me, Kiss Me Deadly is not just one of the best noirs, but one of the best films ever made, period. I discovered it at university, by way of Jack Shadoian's remarkable chapter on it in Dreams and Dead Ends - this was before the movie's proper ending had been re-discovered. I must have watched KMD 30 or 40 times over the years, and that has been like watching Citizen Kane a similar number of times - I'm always rapt even though I know what's coming, and I always discover new details to appreciate.
