For the record, my favorite classic noir used to be The Killers. It now is Criss Cross, but not by much, because it has a tremendously frenetic energy to complement the noir elements. My favorite western noir, not that many such appear on any list, is Colorado Territory ((High Sierra).
One film that I would put in a Top 100 list is Crime Wave. Sterling Hayden was outstanding, Gene Nelson a surprise. And it does well most of the main Noir elements. Maybe it would replace Kiss Me Deadly on the list for me, perhaps somewhere in the middle of the pack.
You may now surmise the film which I dislike most of any major film ever made is Kiss Me Deadly. It is one I believe I discussed, here, in an early post. As I recall, my major (but not only) complaint was with the single note performance of the star, Ralph Meeker(which style could have been Aldrich's. I've seen the film in original release, in the restored version, and in a film appreciation class. Nothing!
