What do you think of the FAHRENHEIT 451 re-recordings? Do you prefer them over the original?
If Herrmann's score to CAPE FEAR isn't noir, nothing is.
CAPE FEAR may not be a noir for Sam Bowden, but it is certainly a noir for Max Cady.
Can't a score be noir even if the film isn't?
That's an interesting idea, to collect Rozsa's openers. Now that you mention it, his opening pieces are more individualistic than his overall scores, which he frankly recycled with a little variation. Perhaps the one exception was THE PRIVATE LIFE OF SHERLOCK HOLMES, an inspired violin concerto and my favorite of all his scores. But of course, it is not noir.
