Good calls, Solomon, and an interesting topic...it's those noirs that we've sometimes referred to as "oneiric" that have that disorienting quality to them. THE CHASE is a great example, but there are many others, mostly in the 40s... SOMEWHERE IN THE NIGHT, NIGHT HAS A THOUSAND EYES, THE SPIRITUALIST just to name a few more. Fritz Lang moves back into this realm with a vengeance in SECRET BEYOND THE DOOR and HOUSE BY THE RIVER.
These qualities dissipate rather sharply when we get into the 50s, but there are still a few films that deliver those odd moments--KISS ME DEADLY, THE BURGLAR, TOUCH OF EVIL, THE LINEUP. And Hitch moves back into this realm, too, with VERTIGO.
