Poor Bendix. Having to live down his bellicose doofus character of Chester A. Riley on TV's "Life of Riley" definitely hindered his reputation as a strong noir character actor. Few players in Hollywood managed to convey that dangerous sense of anger and frustration so convincingly and, often times, so poignantly as Bendix did. Most of hiis 40s characterizations are nothing short of brilliant and add considerably to the fanciful flavor of the noir style. Thanks for that write-up; always nice to hear about another seemingly forgotten Bendix performance.
