After a rewatch of "Touch of Evil," I joined the ranks of the noir fans who wondered if Dennis Weaver's "Night Man" at the isolated motel was not the precursor of Norman Bates.
I have to believe that Hitchcock watched the Welles movie. It is a small point, but an interesting one.
