Gary, glad you enjoyed these! CAGE OF EVIL in particular is a major favorite, partly because it reminds me so much of those so-called "paperback original" novels of the 50s and early 60s (mostly published by Gold Medal) by writers like Harry Whittington, Gil Brewer, Day Keene, Charles Williams et al. It just has that dank, sweaty ambience that drives the narrative along with little regard for logic or sentimentality. Plus Ron Foster's bad cop makes for an impressive noir character. Foster didn't appear in that many features but, more importantly, was all over television from the late 50s on.
