I finally saw this one on TCM in the last year or so. One thing I noticed right away that may be unique in noir is the second-person narration, with Robert Taylor doing voiceover in the first half or so by addressing himself with "you did this, you did that." I don't know that it added much, but it was an interesting choice. Looking just now on IMDB, I see that bmacv had observed the same thing in his short write-up back in 2001.
