Solomon - Thanks for posting about one of my favorite Ulmer films! Often times minimalism can be mistaken for ineptitude and Ulmer sometimes suffers unfair and unwarranted criticism for his no-budget fandangos. MURDER IS MY BEAT ranks, in my opinion, near the top of his output; another interesting example of making something out of nothing. Nice job!
Incidentally, I had the pleasure of screening a pristine 16mm print of this at the Roxie back in the mid-90s. The noir-hungry crowd ate it up!
