Posted by jefty I remember the Dumont network as on good days we (in Hartford) could pick it up and I always tried to watch their space show Captain Video. Other popular shows were Arthur Murray Dance Party, Ted Mack Amateur Hour, a game show called Down You Go, and the others I mentioned. The Dumont building still stands at 515 Madison Ave in NYC. Dumont was originally a manufacturer of cathode ray tubes, branched out into making televisions and radios for the general public then opened his own network and many innovations, show ideas, production techniques were birthed here at the little network that unfortunately couldn't hold it's spot on the dial on against the big three succumbing in 1955. Gord,,,OMG, 20,000 episodes...are you kidding? Amazing...you have to have the worlds largest classic tv collection by far....I hope you've go plenty of time on your hands to sort it all out. let's see averaging 1/2 hour and hour shows..that's about two years! of watching tv 24/7! The mind boggles! 20,000 eps X avg of 45 min = 900,000 min/60=15,000 hours/24 = 625 days! Wow...that's a lot of TV.

Glad to help..I Googled the tagline you mentioned in your piece and that led me to it...you might try that in future....then more info from the Dumont book and finally IMDB which doesn't seem to have the run of episodes like they do on many series...maybe being Dumont and so early in tv history the logs were lost. There were two recurring roles that were waitresses I believe..you can get that on IMDB.
Interesting to note that Dumont lives on in another manifestation as it was initially backed by Paramount that begot the media giant that spun-off a later iteration that became our current 4th network FOX. Not quite the First Testament.
The other networks may have conspired to prevent Dumont from getting stations in DC specifically and some other prime markets which it needed to raise ad revenues and become a major player.
